As a kind of chemical additives, optical brightener exists in many forms.
But the emergence of different dosage forms should be aimed at facilitating the production of optical brightener, improving product performance, reducing labor intensity, saving energy, improving the working environment, meeting user requirements, and facilitating application.
Same as the classification method of the dosage form of ordinary dyes, the dosage form of fluorescent whitening agent is usually classified as follows:
(1) Powdery optical brightener: a powdery commercial optical brightener formulation obtained by processing filter cake.
(2) Granular optical brightener: refers to the granular commercial optical brightener formulations of various shapes obtained by different granulation processing of the original dye.
(3) Liquid fluorescent whitening agent: It is a commercial optical brightener formulation that exists in a disintegrated state (solution) or a stable dispersion state after a certain processing treatment. The product viscosity of this dosage form is low.
(4) Slurry optical brightener: a commercial optical brightener formulation used directly without drying the filter cake. Also known as paste optical brightener. The optical brightener of this dosage form is uniformly dispersed in the solvent but the viscosity is much larger than that of the dispersion. It can be considered a high-viscosity liquid dosage form. Some so-called liquid optical brightener on the market are actually paste-like (paste-like) products with relatively high viscosity.
(5) Microcapsule fluorescent whitening agent: a commercial optical brightener formulation prepared by the principle of aggregation of polymer compounds. The particles are generally 10~30μm, composed of a capsule and an inner core. The optical brightener is contained in the inner core. Under certain conditions, the capsule is broken, and the optical brightener can dye the fiber.
At present, optical brightener products are mainly composed of three basic dosage forms: powder, granule and liquid.
